The founders of CSO Compass have all spent years providing secure software solutions or helping other to provide them. All of us are passionate about information privacy and security.
One of the motivating factors for the offerings we provide was that we noticed that often companies used us to satisfy auditors and our recommedations were routinely ignored. Upon reflection we realized that we were always telling customers all the things they could do and that we had to earn our pay by having the longest list of recommendations we could create. Our recommendations were based on our experience, but were often rather subjective.
In forming CSO Compass we decided something needed to change. We also observed that standards and regulations were changing – they were becoming more prescriptive. we also noted a movement toward more objective criteria being used to inform decisions.
Embracing objective measurement we chose our logo – a stylized gauge. The notion of a compass seemed logical as we are proving direction. And finally, the fact that two of our founders have nautical backgrounds, we chose the nautical themes you see in our web site.
